By embracing new technology such as BIM we replace traditional cumbersome working practices, for a model that performs far more efficiently, delivers more valuable information and, most importantly, significantly cuts costs and liability. While individual designers are achieving internal productivity gains through BIM, the logical extension of this concept is towards Integrated Project Delivery (or IPD), where the same BIM project information, is used by all the project stakeholders throughout the process, for design, analysis, construction and even facilities management.
